Gilson Beck
Gilson Beck is a professor and psychoanalyst.
He has lived in Brussels since 2023.
He was born in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and lived in Portugal for 8 years.
He speaks Portuguese, French, English, and Spanish.
Psychoanalysis
He has taken part in the Clinical Section of the École de la Cause Freudienne (ECF-Belgique), in Brussels and at the Antenne of Mons (Belgium), since January 2024.
He is currently a member of two cartels affiliated with the World Association of Psychoanalysis (AMP): «Reading Seminar 15 – The Analytic Act,», linked to the École de la Cause Freudienne-Belgique; and “The Feminine and Rabage“, linked to the New Lacanian School (NLS).
He teaches the introductory courses in Psychoanalysis and organizes the reading workshops for Nos Bobos.
He conducts his personal analysis and control (supervision) with two analyst members of the ECF-Belgique, in French.
He took part in cartels, courses, and reading groups at the Antena do Campo Freudiano (ACF-Portugal, Lisbon, Portugal) between 2010 and 2012, and between 2019 and 2022. Notable among these are the extension course “The Psychoanalytic Clinic” (2010) and the cartel “Clinical Structures” (2021–2023).
In 2020–2021, he attended the Theoretical Seminars of the Section Clinique de Nantes (École de la Cause Freudienne), focusing on Lacan’s Seminars 10 and 17.
He took part in the cartel «Clinical Structures» at the Associação Psicanalítica de Porto Alegre (APPOA, 2015-2016) and in training seminars at the Escola Brasileira de Psicanálise (EBP-MG, 2018).
He has attended psychoanalysis conferences such as Pipol 9, 10, 11, and 12 (European Congresses of Psychoanalysis, Brussels), organized by the Eurofederation of Psychoanalysis (AMP); the Conference of the Escola Brasileira de Psicanálise, Minas Gerais section (2012); and the Colloquium of the Portuguese Psychoanalytic Society (2009).
He published the article «Para uma Música Borromeana» (Toward a Borromean Music, 2012) in Afreudite – Lusophone Journal of Pure and Applied Psychoanalysis (Lisbon, Portugal), in which he brings together psychoanalysis with techniques of musical composition and musical analysis.
Music and the Arts
He has a solid academic background in the arts and music.
He holds a master’s degree in Musical Composition from the University of Évora (Portugal) and a bachelor’s degree from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil) – Lisbon Higher School of Music. He also studied privately with the composer Almeida Prado.
He received the Funarte Prize for Classical Composition three times in a row (2010, 2012, and 2014), awarded by the Fundação Nacional das Artes (National Arts Foundation – Funarte) and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. He also won 2nd place in the Carlos Gomes Young Composers Competition (2005).
In his master’s thesis, he developed a technique of musical composition related to Lacanian psychoanalysis and knot theory (the Borromean Knot).
He began working in Specialized Artistic Education in Portugal in 2009, and through this developed the concepts underlying the music teaching approach at Nos Bobos.
He also worked in higher education between 2006 and 2012, during which time he served as a Virtual Tutor for the distance-learning program of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar).
He has given numerous concerts, lectures, and workshops on music and musical composition, particularly on the use of digital technologies in artistic production.
He currently teaches piano, composition, music theory, and musicianship at Nos Bobos.
Juliana Penna
She loves children, bamboo, coffee, and poetry.
To sing is to create oneself, together.
She has been singing since 1978, at age 2. She used to record K7 tapes with her parents in Stillwater, Oklahoma/USA, and mail them to her grandparents on the “Roça” (family farm) in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano from the Federal University of Uberlândia (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and a Master’s degree in Education and Dance from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp).
She was a member of the vocal quartet VagaMundo for 20 years, with whom she recorded two albums of Brazilian music featuring original arrangements and compositions.
For 8 years she took part in the Fonograma Jazz Trio, a group that recreated traditional jazz songs blended with Brazilian music – a free association of musical memory.

In dance, she studied and worked at Estúdio UaiQDança with Fernanda Bevilaqua. She has also worked with Wagner Schwartz and Cláudia Muller, and was mentored by Lia Rodrigues during an artistic residency at the Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon).
She is the mother of a 12-year-old child. She thinks about music, dance, social bonds, families, intimacy, affects, invention, auto-poiesis – the act of creating oneself – through the aesthetics of the songs of memory… which born of the voice, the word, the breath, and the silences.
